Re:form School | 10.09.10 | NYC
October 6, 2010 by Tes, under Artwork, Events.
RE:FORM SCHOOL gathers together a diverse array of hundreds of the nation’s most talented visual artists under one roof to celebrate that role and to send a loud message that the time has come to fix our ailing public school system.
Below is a preview on the painting created specifically for the exhibition, along with the questions answered for the Meet The Artist portion of the website:
_
What High School did you go to?
Gibbs High School / PCCA, St. Petersburg FL.
Why have you chosen to participate in RE:FORM SCHOOL?
I choose to participate in Re:Form School because I believe learning is exciting. It’s discovery. The ability to open doors you never knew existed. It’s important for all people, young and old, to find the value in a growing education. Encourage new ideas and share knowledge with others. Participating in Re:Form School is great way to share that message.
Describe your creative process and how you are working with the themes of the show.
When I was younger, I had a hard time concentrating in school because my imagination was quite vivid. I would daydream a lot. I wanted to explore and discover things as much as I could. As I got older, the capacity of my imagination would shrink to make room for practicality, limitations, life, etc. ?I created “Wonders Never Cease” as personal reminder to never stop exploring, never to close my mind. With as much as there is to learn, you will never reach the end. Stay curious!

Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Ms. Peggy Martin, my 5th grade art teacher – for recognizing the potential in me before I ever did.

RE:FORM SCHOOL will be open to the public, Saturday, October 9th, 2010 through Monday, October 11th between the hours of 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
